Chippy Black Chest

Hello strangers!  The piece I’m sharing today may surprise you…

Ta-da….black!  I always receive messages from readers asking me to post black pieces so they can get design ideas.  The problem is that I have traveled through a dark furniture phase and seem to have ventured into a neutral white, gray, creamy phase.  It happens.  So, I don’t have anything against dark pieces {in fact, I’m obsessed with this chest} but I just haven’t had any custom requests for black pieces.  So what changed, you say?  Well, I sent the amazing hubster to pick up 2 pieces the other day, one of which was this chest.  It was pretty banged up and didn’t look like anything special.  In fact, the current make-up it was sporting was dull, black spray paint, which I’m typically not a fan of on pieces like this.  However, with a nice beating from the sander and some stain and wax magic, she looks beautiful and full of life!

  8. That is such a beautiful piece!! I have a black buffet that I've been wanting to freshen up and I think what it really needs is a bit more distressing and "vintage"-ing up. LOL!
