Double Pedestal Table & Cane Chairs

This double pedestal table was an amazing find.  Throw in some cane back chairs {with no broken caning}...L.O.V.E!

The original finish was chipped {which I don't mind} and dingy to the point of yellowing {not good}.  The seats had been recovered several times in dated fabrics but the caning was in near perfect condition.  Here's the craigslist picture that literally made my heart palpitate because I knew how beautiful she could be.

I decided to break out the spray gun and air compressor for this gal.  Mainly because I knew it would be difficult to obtain an even finish on the caning by hand but also to save on time.  I used a quart of Clark + Kensington Primer and Paint in One that I scored for FREE from ACE Hardware a few months ago.  As I was sanding, the yellowing came through on the top in a few areas so I broke out my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White which did the trick!  The entire piece was sealed with a few coats of clear wax and .

The seats were covered using a laundered canvas dropcloth.  {Check out the tutorial here}
